Never has there been as much concentration displayed in a beer garden as there was Saturday night during what everyone now knows as Pizza, Pitchers & Puzzles.

The 95th Box Car Days celebration included a couple of new features, including one where teams of four were put to the test to literally solve a picture puzzle while consuming a large pizza and chugging 12 16-ounce cans of cold beer.

Twenty-five teams signed up to play, proving the event was one of the most popular goings on at this year’s Tracy Area Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Box Car Days, this side of the Grand Parade. The winning team was made up of a pair of sisters — Kendra Brueggeman and Brooklyn Ludeman, and Trevor Brueggeman and Karson Herfurth.

“We as a Chamber got quite a few compliments on that one,” said Amber West, who was overseeing her first Box Car Days celebration as Chamber director. “It was a fun event for everyone. The winner got it done in 39 minutes; we were expecting a little bit longer than that, but everyone was engaged and it got quite a few people into the tent.”

Pizza, Pitchers & Puzzles was just one of many well-attended attractions that took place during an action-packed Labor Day weekend.

Indeed, there was once again something for everyone this past weekend, and many people took advantage of all that this year’s Box Car Days had to offer.
