Owen Elsen is not only driven to learn, he loves to crack the occasional book now and then. And in earning his Eagle Scout badge, he’s sharing his love of learning and reading with others.

Elsen, a Tracy Area High School senior, recently completed his Eagle Scout Badge project that has resulted in a 20-unit story walk outside the Marshall-Lyon County Library.

“The more I researched and learned about it, the more I fell in love with the idea,” said Elsen, who plans to major in digital sound design at Dakota State University next year. “I love to learn, and reading is a big part of that.”

Elsen, a member of Troop 320 in Marshall, said Paula Nemes of the library reached out to Elsen’s Life to Eagle coach Scott Masters (the person charged with guiding a Scout through the project) to get the ball rolling on the project. Assistant Scout Master Mike Greenfield was notified as well, which brought Elsen into the loop.
