CCWG makes pitch for COVID monies for new center

With fundraising continuing to go well, the Community Center Workforce Group appeared in front of the Tracy City Council on Monday, asking for financial support from the City through two different potential sources of funding.

“Our workforce group would like to ask the city council to set a goal of helping raise funds for the Tracy Area Community Center by June 1st, 2023,” CCWG member Janine Vandendriessche said to the council. “This could be done by alotting the $200,000 COVID payment from Lyon County and also money left over from the O’Brien Court sale. We will continue our fundraising, working at obtaining grants and hosting fundraising events.”

Vandendriessche went on to thank those who have donated so far — individuals and businesses alike.

“We always talk about Tracy and the problems we have, but this is a positive thing,” she said. “Look at all the support that we’ve been given. That’s everybody, not just us doing the (fundraising) work.”
