Efforts to add a new community center to Tracy’s downtown landscape have taken another big leap, with a donation of $50,000 by Apex Clean Energy/Box Car Wind.

Drew Christensen, director of Public Management with Apex Clean Energy, said one of the company’s goals is community outreach and being involved in communities in which they have a footprint.

“We work all across rural America, and in those conversations that we’ve had about economic development and clean energy, we’ve seen how important it is to have a place to gather,” Christensen said. “This is an outstanding project that’s going to be a tremendous asset, not only for Tracy but for the entire region.”

“We appreciate the generosity of Box Car Wind,” said Ken Witt, a member of the Community Center Workforce Group, which has been leading the community center charge since its inception in 2021. “We certainly hope to do them proud.”
