Ever-expanding Wheels seeks helping hands for upkeep

Growth and expansion are positive signs for any group, business or organization. However, with growth, comes more work and maintenance.

That’s why the Wheels Across the Prairie Heritage Center is asking for volunteer help through its Adopt-A-Building program that started last fall.

Volunteers have always been the backbone of the city’s museum, but not only has the campus expanded, over the years, volunteers have either passed away or moved from Tracy, leaving a void in the help department.

“If people come out and adopt a building, it would help us our tremendously,” said Heritage Center Board President Jon Wendorff. “Then the staff can take care of guests and continue to work on projects. It’s the town’s museum, so we want it to sparkle and look nice year-round, especially when we’re open. But we need some help.”
