Lynette was born on December 31, 1950 in Tracy MN to Lewis and Glenora (Fatt) Fick and began school in Lamberton MN, graduating from Walnut Grove High School in 1968, After graduation, Lynette attended Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall MN before deciding to work as a nurses aid at the hospital in Tracy MN. This led to her receiving her nurses degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing/Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. Later, Lynette continued her education and earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Lynette’s nursing career included work in the areas of kidney dialysis, long term care, nurse education, training and acclimating nurses recently immigrated from Nigeria, and care management.

Lynette married Gene Jacobsen, of Tracy MN, on March 23, 1974, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Walnut Grove MN. They enjoyed 49 years together in marriage. In 2002 Lynette and Gene moved from Lakeville MN to Tucson AZ. For 20 years they would spend winters in AZ and summers in MN at their cabin on Lake Shetek. Lynette loved entertaining and hosted many family and friend gatherings at the cabin in MN and in Tucson. Lynette and Gene were fortunate to join Minnesota friends in Tucson and made many new friends.

Lynette’s hobbies and interests were varied and included fossil hunting with her friend Dave, reading, jewelry making, Native American history, volunteering at the Paleontology Institute in MN to clean fossils, going on cruises, and her most recent passion – volunteering with the Tucson Samaritans, which was very close to her heart. One of Lynette’s favorite things to do was to travel with family and friends to Rocky Point Mexico. This was truly her happy place.
