Ellen Mattson, age 92 of Tracy MN, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Sanford Hospital.
Ellen was born December 20, 1930, in Tracy, MN to parents, Fredrick and Mabel Mattson. She grew up on the family farm in Scandia township, Murray County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Sillerud Lutheran church; and attended Balaton HS graduating in 1948.
She went on to attend Bethesda School of Nursing; and graduated in 1953 with a nursing degree.
Ellen worked as an RN, in St. Paul, until her retirement in 2000. In 2008 she moved to Tracy to be closer to family.
Ellen was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt. Family was very important to Ellen and she made a point of attending family gatherings and celebrations. Ellen’s nieces and nephews always looked forward to Aunt “Eloise’s” frequent visits. Ellen enjoyed baking and crocheting. She made many lovely afghans for her family throughout the years. She attended Tracy Lutheran church and enjoyed volunteering at Prairie View Nursing Home.
In her later years she resided first at Obrien Court and later moved to Prairie View Senior Living Center.
Ellen is survived by her, sister Muriel (Curtis) Reinert of Tracy, niece, Barbara (Don) Bredthauer of Omaha, NE, nephew, Brent (Deb) Baker, of Milbank, SD, niece, Kathy (Dennis) Fitzgerald of Coconut Creek, FL and nephew, James Reinert, Tracy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Mabel Mattson, sister and brother-in-law Betty and Clair Baker, and nephews Brian and Bruce Baker.
