Lake Shetek supporters cover plenty of ground at annual meeting

The news at Saturday’s Shetek Area Lakes Association’s annual meeting was mostly good, as SALA President Lars Johansson reported that Murray County has received a state grant for $4.2 million for the proposed Valhalla Road budget project.

That was just one of many topics covered in front of a large crowd gathered in the dining hall at Shetek Lutheran Ministries.

The Vahalla Road project will be focused on the three dikes and the road itself.

“The DNR would like to have some bump-outs for fishing,” Johnasson said. “That, and the displacement of water, I feel the DNR should pay for. The displacement of water costs are very high.”
