Dar Sherman has spent more than 30 years taking care of others in Balaton. On Saturday, Balaton returned the favor.
While the pain in her heart still lingers from the unexpected loss of two loved ones, Saturday served a day of fellowship, personal reflection and somber celebration in downtown Balaton, as Sherman and her family were the guests of honor of a benefit for a family who lost more over a span of a few months than some people do in a lifetime.
Sherman is the mother of Dawn Sherman and grandmother of Dawn’s son, Izak Wixon, who lost their lives a mere six months apart — Dawn on Oct. 5, 2022, and Izak on May 2, 2023. Saturday’s gathering filled her heart with gratitude for a community that feels her pain and wanted to show its support.
