An informational meeting and Q&A session hosted last Wednesday in Currie by Invenergy drew many local landowners.

The company is in the very early stages of setting up a wind farm in the counties of Lyon, Lincoln, Murray, Redwood and Pipestone. The 1,000-megawatt Purple Skies Wind Energy Center would ideally begin construction in 2026, and be operational by 2027 or 2028.

The goal of last week’s meeting was to accrue support for the project and encourage more farmers and landowners in the Murray County area to sign up their land for the project. So far, 8.2k acres in the county have been signed up, with 108k acres in the whole project area.
