Funeral services for Francis Gervais will be at IHM Church in Currie, MN on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Peter Schuster officiating. The organist is Patty LeClaire. The song leader is Linnea Surprenant. The pallbearers are Mike Gervais, Bill Gervais, Mike Schreier, Luke Radke, Jake Sweetman and Tyler Arnold. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Currie, MN. Visitation will be on Friday, October 13, 2023, at IHM Church in Currie, MN from 4-7 p.m. also one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Francis Gervais was born on NFrancis Gervais was born on November 13, 1955, in Tracy, Minnesota to Hugh and Louise Surprenant Gervais. He grew up on the family farm east of Currie, MN and graduated from Tracy High School in 1974.
On May 16, 1981, he and Loretta Noomen were married at IHM Church in Currie. Following their marriage, they made their home on the family farm and raised their seven children. While farming, Francis also worked for Sweetman Sand and Gravel in Currie.
Francis passed away at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the age of 67.
He was a lifelong member of IHM Church in Currie where he served as Church Trustee, Lector, and Eucharistic Minister. He also was a member of Currie Town and Country Booster Club. Francis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, farming, playing cards, bowling, and raising cattle.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Gervais of Currie, MN, seven children and their spouses, Christopher and Erin Gervais of Winona, MN, Carin and Kenny Huff of Burnsville, MN, Mary and Cassidy Arnold of Tracy, MN, Mark and Lexi Gervais of Currie, MN, Rebecca and Jade Larson of Brandon, SD, Rachel and Shawn Girard of Brandon, SD, and John and Tessa Gervais of Bloomington, MN, 21 grandchildren, Jack, Harrison, and Evan Gervais, Elijah, Jacob and Samuel Huff, Tyler, Emma, Isaac, and Trevor Arnold, Nolan, Mason, and Lauren Gervais, Isabelle, Isaiah, Alivia, Aliza Larson, Julian, Brooke, and Katie Girard, and Francesca Gervais, seven siblings and their spouses, Marie Gervais and Duane Knutson, of Springfield, MN, Martha and Mark Siska of Byron, MN, Elizabeth and Nick Larson of Vergas, MN, Kathleen and Ken Schmitt of Luverne, MN, Julie Suedbeck of Willmar, MN, Michelle and Ken Zabella of Orlando, FL, and Robert and Katie Gervais of Currie, MN, and several nieces and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Lincoln Arnold, and parents-in-law, Lawrence and Ramona Noomen.
