A number of concerned parents and their student-athletes attended Monday night’s District No. 2904 School Board meeting to ask the school board to not automatically renew the coaching contract for head volleyball and boys’ basketball coach Rick Haberman and for the board to address policy issues as they are outlined in the district’s handbook.
“We’re here as a group of people asking you not to renew Rick Haberman’s coaching (contract) for boys’ basketball and for volleyball,” parent Mike Erbes said. “I’ve got a stack of letters here right now from volleyball players and basketball players of stuff that he’s done wrong.”
Mike Erbes said there were more people who would’ve attended Monday’s meeting if not for fear of retaliation.
“These are all signed; there are a lot more who want to sign, but they’re worried about retaliation they would have on the court,” he said.
