Personal Victory

ike Nelson doesn’t ignore his past, but he has certainly put it behind him.

Nelson, who for nearly three decades has served as Senior Pastor at Victory Christian Church in Balaton, has been publicly open about his abuse of drugs and alcohol in his younger days, and it was those experiences, born perhaps from feelings of inadequacy, that ultimately helped Nelson focus only on what was to come, not what he had done or been through.

Nelson, who hard to believe turns 70 this week, delivered his final sermon at Victory on Oct. 22. His successor is Matthew Cherry, who was set in on Oct. 8.
