Seventeen coaches attended Monday’s District No. 2904 School Board meeting, but they weren’t there to talk Xs and Os. The coaches — representing most every Tracy Area High School sport from all levels — had something bigger on their minds.
One month ago, a group of parents and student-athletes went before the board to request then-head boys’ basketball coach Rick Haberman’s contract not be renewed. Before the board could act, however, Haberman submitted his resignation as basketball coach — a move that inspired his peers to show their support for their fellow coach and, in the process, call out the parents themselves as well as question the school board.
