Ronnie Gasca is taking his love of tee boxes, fairways and greens to the next level.
Gasca, along with his wife, Sonja, are acquiring Balaton Bay Golf Course, a place they call one of Balaton’s true gems.
“This is a huge asset to the community,” Ronnie said. “They reached out to us and asked us if we’d be interested. We thought about it for a while … golf courses aren’t huge money-makers, but the restaurant does enough business to balance it out.”
Knochenmus Enterprises owned Balaton Bay for seven years after Jon and his family acquired it from the City of Balaton. Mike and Julie Benson (Jon’s sister) have managed the course and restaurant, and Jon’s daughter, Tamar, has also been actively involved in its growth. Balaton Bay employs eight people in all, including groundskeepers.
