Dale ‘Andy’ Anderson, 70

The funeral service with military honors for Dale Dean “Andy” Anderson, 70, of Balaton, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton.  Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3, from 4-7 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Balaton.  Visitation will continue on Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.  A private family interment will take place at a later date.  A recording of the service will be available at www.horvathfuneralservice.com.

Andy Anderson was born on July 21, 1953, in Tracy, MN, to Vernon and Bernice (Knutson) Anderson.  He grew up in Balaton and graduated from Balaton High School in 1971.  Andy enlisted and served in the South Dakota Air Force National Guard.  On August 25, 1973, he was united in marriage to LuAnn Luckhardt at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall.  The couple made their home and raised their family in Balaton.  Andy worked as a truck driver for Balaton Oil Co., Viessman Trucking and Ralco.

Andy was an active member of his community.  He belonged to the SDANG, Balaton Fire Department and the American Legion.  He enjoyed playing softball and played for four teams in Balaton in his younger years:  the Barrons, Brewers, Cennex and Al’s Bar.  He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting and was a long suffering Minnesota Vikings fan. Andy greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Andy died on Friday, March 29, 2024, under hospice care at his residence in Balaton.  He is survived by his wife LuAnn of Balaton, son Jason (Angela) Anderson, grandchildren Kalli (Damian), Kaitlyn and Keagen; daughter Jessie (Todd) Wichmann, grandchildren Aiden, Lane and Ty; daughter Amanda (Scott) Fogelson, grandchildren Callen and Cannon; sister Jacki (Neil) Dennin of Hutchinson and brother Wayne Anderson of Hutchinson, MN, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Bernie Anderson, brother Larry Anderson, parents-in-law Roy and Edith Luckhardt and brothers-in-law Al Luckhardt and Jack Luckhardt.
